We were so excited to finally photograph Bethany + Ian’s Wedgewood Sequoia Mansion wedding at the beginning of June and despite the threat of severe thunderstorms, the day couldn’t have gone any better.
“Are you excited?!” Was the first question we asked the groom when we walked in. “Oh Yeah!” When we when we found the Bride, she already looked like a princess (seriously, this girl is stunning!) and she was still putting on the finishing touches of her makeup. We shot a few getting ready photos before heading downstairs for their first look. We could almost feel the electric excitement from both of them as they were about to see each other for the first time all glammed up.
With lots of free time before the ceremony we snuck away for some pictures of the two of them before the bridal party pictures. When it was time for the ceremony, everyone was getting a little worried. The clouds overhead had gotten a lot darker and the thunder was going crazy! A severe thunderstorm warning had even gone into effect just 15 minutes before the ceremony started. Thankfully it all worked out perfectly! The rain held off until the reception with only a few light sprinkles during the family portraits.
We wanted to try and incorporate the rain into their pictures somehow without actually making them get wet. We found the perfect spot and we were able to photograph their rings against a great rainy backdrop.
Their reception was beautiful! The sequoia mansion is a really great location with everything you need for a gorgeous, elegant setting. And we absolutely loved their colors! You can never go wrong with blue and gold.
